ANGELITO L. DAVID (b. 1936 in Bataan)
Angelito L. David, an award winning artist with a long and varied career, has exhibited his work nationally and internationally. Shortly after finishing BFA at the University of Santo Tomas, the Italian government awarded him a painting scholarship in Rome, where he learned fresco painting, and art conservation.
Living in Rome from 1962 until 1967 and later in New York City, Lito exhibited his works regularly, won various art competitions, and worked as restorer of rare documents and books. Returning to the Philippines in 1969, he became known for his mastery of watercolor. He co-organized and headed the Watercolor Society of thePhilippines. For over 22 years he taught fine arts and exhibited widely, while preserving and authenticating old Filipino masters’ artworks.
Migrating to the US in 1992, Lito continued to teach, exhibit and win awards, and restore. He is member of the New Jersey, Garden State and American Watercolor Societies. In 1993, he co- founded the Society of Philippine American Artists. His work has been recently published in Transparent Colors, Filipino American Watercolorists. He received the Pamana ng Pilipino 2010 award from Pres. Benigno S. Aquino III.
